Sorry for the delay... Monday crap got in the way again...

Ok, so Buddy Guy gets done with his set, and the "crew" makes ready the stage for the King. B.B.'s band hit the stage right on time and gave us a great warm up.

Although not as lively as Buddy Guy, King performed well. Hell he's 84 years old, and it looked to me like he was still having fun. The crowd mellowed out during the first tunes. I think BB realized that we had quieted down so he called out " I can't see you but I can hear you".. a few house lights came up and the crowd cheered for the king.

King played "See That My Grave is Kept Clean," the classic cover originally written by Blind Lemon Jefferson, King announced, "I'm from Mississippi and I carry a knife," a segueway into one-sided discussion about women ("I've never seen an ugly woman") and the first couple verses of "You Are My Sunshine." BB did talk quite a bit, and kept promising, "The Thrill is Gone" but we first had to hear about Mr. Ciallis, and Mr. Viagra as well as the benefits of Morgan David wine... I was disappointed that he didn't play "Lucille" or Humingbird" King and his band played about 8 songs in their 90 minute set, many people complained, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

Not my photos.. I had to borrow these from a bud...

Well back fron Kansas City... Wow what a great time....

Jay (fellow Fender forumite) and I, met up Friday afternoon. We checked out Big Dudes Music, had a couple beers at Kellys in Westport, then on to the Plaza for a Steak at Houston's restaurant. Feeling pretty full we headed downtown to see two of the greatest bluesmen to ever live. You know I'm talking about Buddy Guy, and BB King.

Buddy opened the show and played non stop for about an hour, He was truly mesmerizing. He and his band definitely had the chemistry. Buddy actually got off stage and came into audience and played... The crowd was just in a frenzy, man it was great! Buddy played his stuff like the true pro he is. I did not hear anything missed, or covered for... and that mans hands were on fire, tell those guitar "shedder boys" to take some lessons! Buddy did a cool medley of Hendrix and Clapton at the end of the show. Jay was lucky enough to catch one of the picks that the tossed out. As for pictures.. well I have to apologize, there not very good, but heres a couple anyway. By the way, they told us ahead of time, "No Cameras or Recording devices".. well as Small as the setting was, I could have been packing a good camera, as it is heres some stuff from my Phone... I have a short video clip that is much better than the damn phone pics, Ill figure out how to get the stills from it, and get them up here.

Tomorrow Ill tell you about B.B King.. Good God! I now know for a fact that he is the "King of the Blues"

Happy Hump Day!

Well heres a cool one from 1969,"Mary Had A Little Lamb" From Blues great, Buddy Guy, Creams Bassman, Jack Bruce, Drummer, Buddy Miles, and Jazz saxophonist Roland Kirk. They are part of a Jam Band, which also included Steven Stills and Eric Clapton. It was set to be "The last great jam of the 60s" I'm pretty sure it kind of flopped... The DVD was put together in 2003 and titled "Supershow" I have looked for it at the rental places but couldn't find it, I think Id like to see this one before I spend the cash... Well the Youtube is pretty cool.

Gotta make it short tonight...

Who doesn't like this tune, "Sweet Home Chicago" , this ones by our old friend Buddy Guy. Robert Johnson gets the credit for first writing and recording this 12 bar blues. Kind of a variation of a 1928 tune called "Old Original Kokamo Blues" Check Wiki for this story it's pretty interesting.

So, your at the bar haven' a few and this tune comes on... How do you hold still?
