I was reading monday Bill's blog and surprise it was about Etta James. Yesterday I rented the movie "Cadillac Records" and it is all about this intense period of creativity and discovery of such talented artists (musicians, singers, composers). Howling wolf, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Etta James. A most recommended movie for all music lovers.
See ya around.
Claude.
Hey Claude,
What did you think of Beonce' as Etta James. I thought all of the other actors were pretty spot on.
Good movie though
Bill
Hi Bill, well I saw an interview with the writer and she said that she wrote the script with Beyonce in her mind. Maybe Jennifer Hudson would have been a better fit? Who knows? There is a lot of young and talented actors out there but not enough movies. We have the same problem, we all play the Blues but we can't all be Stars. The problem is the movie itself. It is like a few stories tied together with the Chess Record brand. A bit of Chess plus a bit of Waters plus a bit of Wolf and so on. I had the impression that they wanted to do a ten hours miniserie, and for whatever reason, they ended up with a two hours movie. Anyway the movie tells a very interesting story, I learned a lot of things, I am happy with that. I enjoyed all the performances including Beonce's. The one I prefer is Mos Def as Chuck Berry.
-"What is he playing?"
-"I don't know but keep recording it."
Anyone else saw the movie?
